Target is obscured
This is damned annoying especially as i play a caster.
Why why why does it wait until AFTER you have cast a spell to tell you that the foe is obscured??? (eg: Fireball, very effective but wasted coz the foe moved behind a hill whilst casting) Surely it would make more sense to alert you before you tried casting a spell or not charge you for using the spell thereby saving you time and energy. |

Balance reason: No idea.
Flavor reason: It's not like you're failing to cast the spell--it gets cast, you invest energy, the fireball simply fails to get where you want it to go because there's a wall in the way. |

I love it when a target is obscured, since I can still cast hexes on them (and they can't attack me directly).

heh true jetdoc, its great if you're against a few archers who would tear your poor caster into grawl chow in 2 seconds, but they're stuck on the other side of the cliff whilst you happily hex and degen them to hell

That's part of the game.
Players use there surroundings to gain advantage, it's how it works. So you should use your own tactics. How about go on top, unless there directly underneath you on a bridge. |

I hate when I get that obscure message. If I'm not sure I can hit a target because of an obstacle, I'll try to wand them first.

It would indeed be nice if it would stop your action when the your view of the target is obstructed, much like when you don't have enough energy to cast the spell. But I doubt that's going to change, it's kinda up to you to judge whether or not there's a nice tree or wall in your way.

in some cases it might hit when it just hops over a hill or whatever. Try too look at your target, see what it does. it helps
